Stanford Farms

Client:
Stanford Farms, Santa Barbara, CA

Project:
Stanford Farms, a historic ocean front estate, required a stormwater management system to combat heavy erosion.

Challenge:
In addition to implementing a system capable of controlling the heavy erosion, RESI had to ensure that the beauty of the estate was preserved.

RESI Solution:
An EPIC system, along with gapped fieldstone pavers, was installed to harvest the rain water that fell on the driveway, access road, and front parking area. This system channels water to a cistern for storage and reuse for both irrigation and the fountain featured in the forefront of the estate.

Results:
The system designed and installed by RESI has successfully channeled the eight inches of water dropped by the area’s winter storms through the profile without surface runoff since 2002. The aesthetics of the estate grounds are not only maintained, but enhanced by the sedum growth between pavers, which is made possible by passive irrigation in the EPIC system. The design also provides high loading capacity for truck and vehicle traffic without distortion or compaction.
